I'm going on break

I'm going on break
Kingston, New York (December 2025)

I've been going back and forth on whether I should take a break from this blog over the past couple of weeks. While on the fence, I returned from my weekend getaway with a cold and an unfortunate muscle pull, leaving my neck and shoulder with limited mobility for 3 days.

I took all of this as a sign that a break is sorely needed, no pun intended.

When I worked at New Naratif, the team typically went on break a week before Christmas until the week after New Year's. I looked forward to the year-end breaks because they were the most rejuvenating time of the year. It allowed us to unwind and indulge in the things we wanted to do without the incessant buzzing of never-ending thoughts related to work. There were no emails to reply to. No social media posts to schedule. For 3 weeks out of the year, we could log off completely and exist without work in the periphery of our lives.

That is the feeling I'm hoping to capture during this break. A time to just be and indulge in the hobbies that I've neglected after taking on freelance work. I'm still 3 books behind my 52-book goal for the year, so I'm hoping to finish up some reads before the year ends. I hope that this break will be filled with good books, cozy activities, and joyful celebrations.

I shall return to your inboxes on January 6th. Until then, happy holidays! May the end of the year be restful and carefree. See you in the new year!
